If you listen between the lines, I think a case could be made that he'd been cheating on his wife with the secretary before his wife cheated on him.

Speaking of great oldies with really creepy subtexts, check out the lyrics to Lou Christie's "Lightnin' Strikes": is it just me, or is he basically saying, "Sweetie, just be quiet and stay faithful to me while I shove my dick in anything with breasts I can get to hold still"? An exaggeration, sure, but only a slight one.
